Aim. Analysis of physiological and biochemical characteristics genetically modified wheat with partially suppressed activity the proline dehydrogenase gene. Methods. Determination (PDH) activity, free L-proline (Pro); carbohydrate content (sucrose fructose). Results. It was established that under conditions water deficit in plants integrated elements forming double-stranded RNA suppressor pdh gene, there is a partial inhibition enzyme an increase proline. Changes metabolism stress first hours after rehydration were noted, while sucrose / fructose ratio control significantly decreases during dehydration normalizes when supply restored, this indicator almost does not change short-term stress. Conclusions. Partial suppression gene leads to content, fluctuations which contribute maintenance balance.
